A Gentleman’s Sport?

Mags from Norway is fast becoming one of my favourite reads in the blogsphere, his blog Langkjøring chronicles the trials, tribulations and training regimen of a cyclist in his quest to qualify for the 2012 summer games.
Today’s post really should have been titled “because life isn’t fair’ but it’s a good summation of what modern sport -amateur and elite - is all about.
Does hard, honest work pay off in the world of professional sport? Does cycling reward its faithful servants? I think we all wish the answer to these questions was a resounding “YES!”, we all want so bad to believe in the rewards of hard, honest efforts. The real picture, however, is more complex. Much more complex.
I’m really going enjoy Mags’ physical and mental journeys on what will no doubt be be a very hard road to ride.
