Detour de France at the Chauvel
Posted May 31st, 2007 in The Desk
To celebrate World Environment Day, the Chauvel will be showing Detour De France on Monday June 4 at 6.30pm.
Paparazzi like, I’ll be there, camera in one hand and a glass of Champers in the other, book a ticket and join me for a night of cycling larrikinism and environmental goodness. Here is the Spinopsys of what you can expect.
Detour De France is a documentary that follows the 2005 Tour De France through the eyes of three Australians; John Trevorrow, Denis Donoghue and Bill Schwarzenberg. John is a journalist and ex Pro-Australian rider, Denis is a radio journalist and Bill is just there to have a good time.
The film is aimed at the general audience, not just the cycling enthusiast, although anyone with the slightest interest in cycling will enjoy the inside story of the tour.
It touches on the rise of Lance Armstrong and his amazing recovery from life-threatening cancer, how the ‘prologue’ and ‘peloton,’ the ‘break away’ and the nuances of the worlds greatest cycling event. It also takes you through the various countries that the race enters.
Yep, it’s an Australian version of The Tour Baby! And don’t forget. Drinks, canapés and conversation will follow both films so you’ll get to schmooze with your cycling buddies after the show.
