Neiwand to be sentenced today

News.com.au.

Former Olympic cyclist Gary Neiwand may be spared jail for harassment today after a plea by his ex-wife.
Neiwand will be sentenced for twice breaking the terms of a restraining order taken out by former wife Catherine.

But Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard Catherine Neiwand had since made a statement to police saying she did not want to see her ex-husband jailed.

Update Niewand runs out of chances and receives four months.

What is it about trackies?

A couple of weeks ago the Good Weekend Magazine had a story on Niewand, I almost felt sorry for him. But his stroy is less that of the “trackie” syndrome and more one of a fame and pampered lifestyle lost.

He’s had lots of folks give him more than enough chances and apologise for him.

Given community standards regarding this kind of thing the judges sentencing was more than fair.
