Boonen depressed? Aren’t we all?

Tom Boonen is a bit down.
“I am departing for Qatar but it is without the soul of a rider,” the 26 year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of his Tour of Qatar title defence. “I feel that I have come [to Qatar] lacking stimulus and motivation. I am shocked and mortified.”
A string of stories broke in the Belgian press on Tuesday accusing Lefevere of decades of doping activities, but the 2005 world champion said the charges against his mentor were ridiculous.
“What’s been told is impossible. I am not going to believe anything I am reading because a lot of it is just fabrication,” Boonen told Belgian radio. “I’ve been involved with Lefevere for many years and he’s always been very straight with me.”
Kinda like when a wife or husband finds out they’ve been cheated on. Always the last to know huh? At 26 Boonen is no pup, he’d have to know wassup, plausable deniability is the name of the game……..until the magistrate comes knocking at the door.
Still, it’s entirely possible, Boonen is a powerful rider with supreme talent, physically and mentally well suited to the one day game, there is every possibility that he is drug free; looking at his TdF performance you’d have to think that. But when you’re in the company of guys like Patrick Lefevre and Johan Museeuw it’s hard to avoid guilt by association, so who’s to know?
Of course this is the problem for those riders who are clean, all the more reason for them to lead the way in playing a new game. It’s the denial of a fundamental truth that leads to unhappiness. When presented with the choice like Museeuw was (supposedly in his last year) riders have only one option - be true to yourself and just say no.

What others have to say…
Like many cyclists, I’m sure he’ll have a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) for any special meds Paul.
Glad you liked the saddle. Yep, man/bicycle seat love is frowned upon in these supposedly enlightened times.
But I’m sure they’ll get to it after they officially tick the man/tennis racket and girl/netball commitment boxes, you’ll just have to wait your turn for basic civil rights and acceptance.
I dunno why the cricket and footy tragics get their relationships recognised and we don’t?

I hope he doesn’t take something to fix his depression. BTW I bought a Specialized Toupe saddle from you a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I.m going to hold a commitment ceremony (only because marriage between man and bicycle seat is still illegal here)soon - I’ll send you an invite.
