The podcast: ToC, Oscar and the rules of the game

Spinopsys podcast

I’ve started a bit of podcasting, but still working out the kinks. Todays effort covers the Tour of California, sportsmanship, Oscar Pereiro and via Smithers, some new racing rules that look just like the old racing rules.

Great idea!
We should have a talk about how you can integrate it with your RSS feed here and create an MP3 format. Currently it’s fairly useless to us non iTunes users :(

Yeah, I’ll need a bit of help on that one, was having trouble wrapping my head around that. The Apple iWeb thing does allow me to create the feeds.

Nice work Phil.

I’ve been thinking about this a bit recently, even done a couple of test recordings but nothing ready for public consumption. So well done for getting it together and getting it going. (Bugger! You beat me to it!)

Oh yeah, and I echo that idea from Damian–go MP3. There’s a plugin for WordPress called podpress that might be of use.

Phil, I really enjoyed the first Spinopsys podcast. It is great to be able to associate a voice with the blog.

Australian riders are doing very well in the ToC. In a recent VeloNews story, I heard Henk Vogels predict that Rory Sutherland will be one of the top 3 riders in North America this season. That prediction looks to be spot on at this point. Other Australian riders, who are coming off a season racing in the southern hemisphere during our winter, probably have an advantage in a February race here in North America.

However one feels about the decision after stage one, I agree with you that Ben Jacques-Maynes’ statement shows a whole lot of class. Pro cycling needs guys like that. Your contrast to a certain “raging hot idiot” was a good one. Keep up the podcast; I’ll look forward to the next one.

Thanks for that James, as I said working out the kinks, but I’ll keep it simple, a few minutes of commentary once a week will be enough.

And yes, I liked Ben’s attitude where he accepts the jury decision. Not enough of that lately.
