Has anyone noticed Tyler’s dismal performance in the Tireno Adriatico? He is at least 40+ minutes down in the GC, almost last in the peloton. Anyone hear what is wrong? Or, is he just so badly out of shape after a two year layoff? Or, is it something else?

Yes Phil I have noticed, and it is something else.

In much the same way as any of us might lose our mojo, Tyler has lost his chimera. As Greek mythology defines it, a chimera is a fire-breathing female monster with a lion’s head, a goat’s body and a serpent’s tail - looking at recent images of Tyler in Tinkoff kit, I can’t seem to detect any of these traits - many of which were evident in 2003 while he was on the road from Pau to Bayonne with a broken collarbone.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like the same man to me

Meanwhile, Tyler Hamilton is also feeling ill, but decided to continue the race. “Although Hamilton has similar problems as Brutt, he insists on staying in the race, as he absolutely needs racing miles to open up in future tours,” Konychev continued. “We still have three riders who can aim high in [today’s] mountain stage: Vasyl Kiriyenka, Ricardo Serrano and, of course, Evgeni Petrov, who returned to Top 10 after an impressive time trial, an event he’s traditionally strong at.”

Ok, it was a cheap shot……..I was being silly. Time will tell if he gets his stage winning mojo back.
