Turning up the heat

Following up my earlier post on the tipping point we are now witnessing surrounding the issue of climate change, we have George Monbiot commenting in this You Tube video on how Exxon funds the climate change denialist industry with a range of astroturf organisations.
Monbiot’s book and site should be an illuminating read for those […]

Knowing everything and nothing

An amusing piece of satire skewers the bike forum set.
I find it really uncomfortable to wear sunglasses while riding, can any of you experts advise how I can ride without glasses but keep the flies out of my eyes, I tried spraying insect repellant in my eyes but after the first eye it hurt so […]

T-Mobile: The team to beat

The amazing changes at T-Mobile Cycling are continuing at a pace that not even a former drug fuelled Tour winner can match, yesterday brought us the announcement of the completely reformatted team’s medical and training program.
The significant thing here is that instead of T-Mobile walking away in disgust at this sick culture eating away […]

Geekalicious!

Your cubicle slave exercise bike comes complete with hand brake. I think that’s meant to be a feature, not a bug.

Masi Guy in the NY Times

The cycling world’s best mate, Tim Jackson, makes the NY Times in a report on business blogging.
For a self-proclaimed dyed-in-the-wool bicycle geek, Tim Jackson sure has a lot of critical opinions about the world of cycling. Carbon frames, velodromes — Mr. Jackson writes about them all on his blog. When the 2006 Tour de France […]

City of Sydney Bike Expo

Pedaller has the spinopsys on yesterday’s Bike Expo.
This was a great opportunity to promote cycling events, the City of Sydney’s cycling plans, as well as promoting cycling in all its various forms. I hope that this Bike Expo will be repeated next year and for many years to come.

Patrice Clerc in the bully pulpit

Patrice Clerc.
For me, the sermon has been read. Landis did not win the Tour because he cheated.
This should make for some interesting letters to the editor reading in the cycling media. I can hear it all now…..due process….French plot…..in league with Dick Pound…..yada, yada, yada.
But more importantly Clerc’s comments should make for an interesting […]

Bike paths are a pedestrian idea

This Heckler piece by Holly Landgren explains exactly why separate cycling infrastructure is a bad idea.
I regularly cycle around the bay at Iron Cove. It is a popular spot for inner-west residents. Ashfield Council has even constructed, in places, one path for riders and another for pedestrians. The paths are well signposted, so why is […]

Chocolate and spice

Everything I need to know about wine is on the label, so you know I had to give this one a try. Just for the record, it really is a good drop.

Seat first or crank forward?

The design goals are laudible though the prose in the press release is a bit breathless. But that’s Vegas.
Australian Bicycle Design Makes History
An Australian-designed bicycle has finally solved the problem of bicycle “seat-soreness,” being the first bicycle in history to be designed from the seat first. The new bicycle is being launched at this […]
